After a nice week in, to and from northern Norway, it was back to work and evening hikes in the local region.

This Wednesday afternoon was a fairly nice one, and I wanted to something out of the ordinary after work. Like trying to get Karma up to Rotsethornet via the steep route from Rotset. The last time I tried this was in 2015, and while I got her up in the end, it was not along the main (and slippery) route (trip report in Norwegian).

Rotsethornet. The steep route runs straight up

I was excited when we approached the steep section. The first few pitches went just fine. Karma is a skilled climber…

Hey! Don’t use the rope! That’s cheating…

Eventually we reached the “crux” and the chain and steps that are in place to help humans were just in her way. We had to do this in two “pushes”, and the final jump up from the slabs and onto the path calls for a sudden explosion of energy.

Halfway up the “crux”

I was happy that we got up and Karma didn’t seem to suffer from any vertigo.

“Was THAT it???”

The rest of the route was easy, and Karma continued in rabbit style

Go rabbit!

Finally, we reached the Rotsethornet summit cairn and Karma had earned goodies!

On Rotsethornet

Obviously, I decided to go to Instehornet and take the Litledalen route down…
