As I typically combine local hikes into a week report, consider this as the Week 25 report – as these were the only local hikes we did this week...
Sollia (661m), June 20 2023
Tuesday: My “repainting sticks” summer project was coming to an end. Only 2 more legs to go. Today, I would do the Sollia – Nonshornet route. We would first hike up to Sollia and begin repainting there.
The weather for the last weeks had just been fabulous. And little did I know that it would remain so for yet another couple of weeks!
Eventually, we reached Sollia – the high point of Gurskøy island. Now, the painting job could begin!
These sticks were repainted last summer, but typically – there was only paint left on two sides…
Karma was really thirsty on this hot day, and fortunately there was a lake nearby…
Lake Holmevatnet to the rescue…
Afterwards, Karma’s tongue was back in her mouth, and I could continue repainting down to Øyrahornet – the hump further down on the below picture.
Now, I only had the Nonshornet – Tjørvåg route left to do, and hopefully I could finish it the day after…

Nonshornet (485m), June 21 2023
Wednesday: The plan was to repaint the sticks from Nonshornet and down to Tjørvåg, but due to rain, this ended up as a trail maintenance mission instead.
Given the forecast, the rain didn’t come as any surprise, so I had brought my lopper. At least, the path was in a slightly better shape than before we arrived…
