Our route

Sunday: The weather was still not good, but we agreed to do a hike across Ulsettua, Åsefjellet and Hjørungneshornet. I was convinced we had done this hike (or parts of it) before, but Anne had no recollection of it.

So, after leaving my bike at Hjørungneset, we drove to Kvammen and headed up to Almekleiva.

Heading out from Kvammen

Approaching Almekleiva, I got strong flashbacks to “Den Store Styrkeprøven» back in 2016, when I ran from Eiksund to Hjørungavåg, across Kongsvollen, Ulsettua and Åsefjellet. I came in as the runner-up. I was quite fit back then. I miss those days…

To Almekleiva

From Almekleiva, we started the hike up Ulsettua.

Ascending Ulsettua

Unfortunately, the path to Ulsettua is overgrown. It is in serious need for someone with a brush cutter. But, this is not my region…

Going up Ulsettua

There was fresh snow > 300m and my boots got quite wet. For some reason, Anne’s boots never get wet. Makes you wonder…

In the snow-zone on top of Ulsettua

I really looked forward to get below the snow…

Descending from Ulsettua towards Ramnfloget

Ulsettua is a kind of mountain/forest top that just never ends

Still on Ulsettua, with still 2 tops to go

Finally, Åsefjellet felt closer…

Next up is Åsefjellet

Don’t get me wrong, though. It was a really nice hike and we all enjoyed ourselves!

In the forest above Engjaskaret

On top of Åsefjellet, we sat down for a couple of minutes. I asked if Anne was “game” for going all the way to Hjørungneset, across Hjørungneshornet. She was!

On top of Åsefjellet

And so we descended Åsefjellet, aiming for top #3…

Heading down from Åsefjellet

It was nice to get on the road near Korshamna

On the road to Korshamna

… and watch the Coastal Express pass by.

Watching the Coastal Express

Then we sat course for Hjørungneshornet.

To the last top…

Anne was a little tired, but overall happy with the 3rd top “in the bag” and all downhill from here.

On Hjørungneshornet

Then we descended to Hjørungneset

To Hjørungneset

A good hike had come to an end. At least for Anne and Karma…

Now you can relax!

I had to go and get the car

The gentleman that I am…

Oh well, just a 10km bike-trip ahead of me…

See ya!

35 minutes later, I was back at Kvammen. I really enjoyed this trip!

Finally!

Trip statistics: 11,5km on foot, 9,9km on bike, 955 vertical meters, 3h:57m
