Monday: The crappy weekend weather was followed by quite a nice afternoon, with OK temperatures and blue sky. I decided to start the week by hiking the highest mountain on Hareidlandet island.
I took my usual route – from the Ringstaddalen trailhead and straight up. In other words – I did not follow the path up to lake Hundelaupsvatnet.
Yesterday’s snow would surely melt away quite quickly. Might as well enjoy it while it’s around.
It’s getting harder and harder to motivate myself for hiking in my local region. I know every square meter like the back of my hand and finding interesting routes I’ve not done before is very difficult.
As such, I’ve decided to return to Sogndal this week, although it’s Anne’s turn to come and see me.
But that would be later in the week. Now, I had to enjoy being right here.
I feel bad for complaining about being bored of my local mountains. It’s a bad thing to say.
I love the feeling of leaving footprints in the spring snow. Not sure why, but I do.
Soon, I would be standing on top for the 207th time…
As I will be returning to Sogndal, I realized that there would probably not any spring skiing in the Sunnmøre mountains this year. It’s OK. We’ll find a mountain we can ski to in Sogn.
That said, I have not completely given up on the idea of skiing Eidskyrkja before the summer. We’ll see…
I had left my bike down in Haddal and sat course for Klungsdalen.
Looking towards Haddalshornet, I realized I still haven’t scrambled the flank to the right (on the below picture). I know it’s steep, but I should at least give it a try. I’ve done the couloir just left of the flank and it’s mighty steep. I am not comfortable doing it without an ice-axe, even in summer.
The distance from Haddal and back to the car was just 1,3km, but it was more enjoyable on a bike.
