Via the Ytterrabben ridge

Tuesday: According to mom, they’ve had a really bad summer and fall in Brønnøysund, but today, the weather was lovely after rain during the nigh and fog in the mountains in the morning.
After I finished work, I helped mom in the backyard for a few hours. I lifted a lot of rocks and many bags with potting soil. When I finished the work, I was a bit “finished” too…
But the mountains were calling and today I would revisit Mosaksla – my favorite Brønnøy mountain – and almost on the day 3 months since I was up here the last time.
I’ve never seen the forest so wet before. The ground was saturated after lots of rain.
It was already clear from the get-go and that I would – like the last time – ascend via the Ytterrabben ridge.
It is a fairly easy ridge to hike, but the upper part – before you get onto totally safe ground – is a bit steep and it may feel a bit airy. But the steep part is on grass, not rock and you can just hold on to grass and branches.
The rock that hadn’t dried up was slippery. I had to be a bit careful here and there.
Rather than continuing straight up, I went over to an adjacent ridge – which was surprisingly airy, at least on one side. And the fact that the rock was quite slippery made this more interesting than I had planned for. I had never been to this ridge before. Fun!
I kept shifting left, onto other ridges.
The autumn colors were so lovely!
I enjoyed myself so much!
I could see the top and was convinced that the rest of the route was a walk in the park. Now I was back in familiar terrain. Or so I thought.
All of a sudden, I had a small gorge below me. I scrambled up on the other side, only to find another wall, blocking my way.
Fortunately, it was easy to get around this obstacle.
And then I had a “free passage” to the top.
I really like this mountain. And there is still so much to discover…
Finally, I reached the top.
I had a good view towards Hornstinden, which I visited earlier this year.
Then I went down to the nearest pond to get a good picture of Brønnøysund.
I considered going down the northeast ridge – to Storfjelldalen – but I was quite hungry and settled for the normal route down. But first, some more pictures…
Weather permitting, maybe there will be a hike to Trælneshatten before I go back home on Saturday.
I really enjoy bringing the 100mm also for landscape pictures, when the best format is ~100mm. The picture quality, compared to the 24-105mm lens is significantly better.
I took my time on the way down. The route was very slippery, and I had no interest in falling and hurting myself…
