Sunday: Looking out the window this morning, I didn’t see much. Fog. The upside was that it was clearly sea fog, which meant that the Ørsta/Volda region most likely didn’t have it.
I decided to take it a little bit easy with my foot, so I hoped a hike across Helgehornet wouldn’t make things much worse.
As a variation, I wanted to start out on bike from Eikrem as I hadn’t never biked the Håskjoldvegen road before. This road was basically one long hill, and it was for real…
I would not mind living in a place where I can see directly to a mountain like Saudehornet…
Eventually, I made it up to the shooting range, left the bike and continued on the path to the top.
It didn’t take too long before I realized that the camera would be running hot today…
Being in the fog isn’t any fun, but watching it from a distance is one of my favorite things…
Only Sollia and Rjåhornet was showing on my island – Gurskøya.
This isn’t the first time I’ve seen the fog give up on Helgehornet. I don’t know much about sea fog but I know there are many factors in play and I had a feeling I was standing on the intersection of all these factors.
But OK, enough fog. Time to enjoy white mountains and blue sky.
I wasn’t the only one on the mountain, enjoying the contrasts.
So, what about the April skiing? The snow in the mountains is quickly melting away. I hope I can get a few more good runs before putting the skis away for the season.
Maybe Eidskyrkja is the go-to place in this area.
Right now, the higher mountains are too cumbersome for hiking and have too little snow for skiing. Unless one is willing to carry the skis halfway up…
On my way down, my right foot was acing – very close to the bruise I noticed the day before.
My plan was to hike down to Eikrem and drive back up to the shooting range to pick up the bike. But now I decided to return to the bike and bike back to the car instead.
Maybe I’ll check with the Doctor’s office tomorrow, in case it makes sense to have this new bruise looked at…
Trip statistics: 4,3km on foot, 7,8km on bike, 650 vertical meters, 2h:09m
