Wednesday: It was a stunning day, 14 °C (year record here?) and I didn’t have to work overtime. Moreover, the foot felt even better today and so decided that I would drive to Volda and bike and hike Melshornet.
Instead of driving as high as I possibly could, I decided to park the car at 50m elevation. This was my first bike trip in at least 5 months, in a tough uphill. The paved road section was easy enough but the gravel road to lake Dinglavatnet was pure murder. In steep hills, I normally bike a little faster than people walk, but today I stood no chance against the hiker that I tried to “compete” with.
After a while, the hiker turned around and I was all alone up there. There was a bit of snow on the road, here and there, but I was still able to bike most of it.
Then I continued on foot.
This was spring and winter in pure harmony and contrast. It felt like I could hike wherever I wanted, but the higher mountains still offered skiing conditions.
I must admit I didn’t have a lot of energy in the steepest hill, and I was mighty glad when I got above the worst part..
A few minutes later, I was on the high point.
Then I moved over to the cairn and enjoyed the Ørsta view.
Before heading back down, I decided to take a round of pictures of the mountains I like the most…
I then returned to the bike and biked down to the where the “Panoramavegen” road forks from Prestsætrevegen (which I came up). I followed “Panoramavegen” for a little while and then ran down a rather steep route down to the main road.
Great trip!
