Friday: After a good working day, it seemed like it wouldn’t be pouring down in the afternoon. Some rain was expected, but not much. I decided to drive to Gjerdsvika and hike Nørdbergsheida via Botnen. The plan was to follow the main path, but plans can be changed.
It was very tempting to go for the gully up to Vatthornet, but I wanted to have a sling in my backpack if I were to attempt the hammer on top of the gully.
But it seemed quite doable to get up to the next col on the ridge.
Of course, the route was painful, with slippery rocks and “you shall not pass!” type of bush. But I was enjoying the multi-episode podcast “The cold front” and I had all the time in the world.
I loved the rocky part though.
Finally, I was above the worst part and could enjoy the ridge route from here.
The rain came and went. Nothing that concerned me.
Looking towards the sea, I hoped that I could get some nice pictures from the top.
The next top was Høgehornet, from where I had a good view towards Nørdbergsheida.
“Kloven” looks nice, seen from this angle. This is however not the high point up here.
Finally, I reached the top of “Kloven”. I was wearing a very weird hat that could be worn in a Harry Potter episode. But it protected my headphones and it’s useful when it’s raining.
From “Kloven”, I was staring straight down on lake Sædalsvatnet. A significant drawdown there.
From the top, I enjoyed some beautiful Crepuscular rays.
Looking towards Storetua, I could see that the snow > 500m was rapidly melting away.
Then I went over to the high point.
Now, I sat course for the “Gapahuk” (lean-to shelter) above Botnen.
The “Gapahuk” sits in a nice location…
I took a minute here before following the main route back down to Gjerdsvika. An enjoyable hike!
