Saturday: The forecast suggested rain every hour throughout the day, but when I decided to go for a hike, the sky was blue. I decided to drive to Flø and see if I could get up and down Skolma before the weather turned bad.
I didn’t see Skolma from the trailhead, and I wondered how much fresh snow there was. Based on Storhornet (497m) on Godøya, I hoped there wasn’t too much.
Passing “Hoksteinen”, I got a glimpse of Skolma. Some snow, but not a whole lot.
I had gaiters in my rucksack, but I couldn’t see any need for them today.
The ridge was windy, but as long as I wasn’t pushed sideways, it was OK.
The night had been bad. Tension headache all night. My pulse was 90 when I got upstairs and sat in the sofa to watch cross-country skiing. That’s a worrying high number. But it matched nicely with the “stress” I’ve felt in my chest for quite some time now. I will have to pay close attention to this from now on.
Edit: This was most likely an emerging costochondritis.
It was nice to reach the fresh snow.
I loved the blue sky. I knew it wouldn’t last though.
Then I was on top, enjoying last night’s 3-hour episode of “National Rap Show”
Based on what I could see, bad weather was moving in, and I decided to get going.
I got some light rain on my way down. Nothing to worry about, and soon the weather was back to nice.
Down by the shore, I decided to spend some time photographing waves.
One thing was clear – there would be surfers at the surfing beach further southwest. And there were!
I tried to get as close as possible, without being “that stupid guy”.
But all of a sudden, one of the waves hit me and I decided to move to safer ground.
Nice, but time to call it a day…
I returned to the path near Hoksteinen.
On my way back, I realized that while I had hiked the gully up to Kjerringa several times (to the left on the below picture), I had not yet done any of the other routes. Already looking forward to that!
It wasn’t quite clear what the weather would be like in the next 10 minutes, but my hike was soon over and I didn’t care.
It was an OK hike. Back home, I decided to rest for an hour and while the headache still persisted, the pulse had gotten below 60, which was a relief. I would like to see it much lower, but we’ll find out what’s going on…
