Sunday: It takes a little while to get used to the amount of daylight in northern Norway at this time of the year. I’m used to daylight when I get up in the morning, but it’s different up here.
Mom (80) wanted to walk around the block for the first time since her prolapse on Christmas Eve. The walking went just fine, but she brought her crutches for safety. After a 2,3km lap, she was good.
As I had GPS-tracked the walk, I decided to hike Tilremshatten – from her house.
I walked across Skardsåsen. Passing canons in this day and age of warfare felt only natural (sadly)
Having passed Skardsåsen, I had the Tilremshatten ridge ahead of me.
The weather was nice. Not as nice as the day before, but any day without rain or snow is a nice day.
Once on the ridge, I saw a group of 4 ahead of me. If I were to meet anyone on this hike, I assumed it would be my old buddy Kjell Iver. We met right about here when I hiked Tilremshatten in March ’25.
And it was indeed Kjell Iver – out hiking with his family. It was very nice to see him again. We’re the “old home page” generation. My westcoastpeaks.com was released in 1999 (hordafjell.com at the time) and his kjiver.no site came around 2003.
The next landmark was Havlarstuva. I planned to visit the top on my way down.
The path was excellent. I had feared that there would be no tracks at all.
Finally, I had the top of Tilremshatten ahead of me.

99,9% turn around on the 315m top. But I am not one of them and went immediately over to the high point, 100m further north.
From there, I noticed a viewpoint that I decided to check out. And when I got there, I noticed a gully below me and a tiny top on the other side – Durmålstuva (294m). I decided to visit it.
From here, I had an excellent view towards the long Mosaksla – Ramntinden ridge.
The Sveindalsaksla ridge (rising out from Medhatten) got my attention. I took a couple of pictures and concluded that I want to check this ridge out one day, although the connection to the high ridge looked a bit steep.
It was fun to see Medhatten again. My mom really wanted to visit this hump, and I took her there in 2018.
Ramntinden will probably also get a visit before I leave the north…
I went back to the 315m top, just as Kjell Iver and his family arrived. I asked Kjell Iver to take a picture of me.
After a nice chat, it was time to enjoy the views.
The sunset I had hoped for, didn’t deliver…
Then I headed back down…
…after taking a 100-iso picture of Brønnøysund (had to use my backpack as tripod)
Oh, that’s right! I had planned to stop by the top of Havlarstuva for the first time.
This is an interesting place. I need to check if it’s possible to come up this way one day.
Back at the main road, I went back up to Skardsåsen, assuming I would “secure” 500 vertical meters that way. And I did.
On my way home, I texted mom and asked if she wanted to walk some more. She did, and we took another round in the neighbourhood.
I had skipped breakfast this morning. When the hiking part was over, the time was 2:34pm and I was really hungry!
This was my first hike while tracking with the Norgeskart friluftsliv app. I also tracked the hike using the Navida app. The total distance was 13,6 vs 14,3km. The Friluftsliv track looked much cleaner but had only 1668 points versus Navida’s 5475m. Maybe the actual is somewhere in the middle…
Trip statistics: 13,2km, 520 vertical meters, 4h:14m
