Tuesday: Anne left in the morning, so now I was all by myself again.
As the forecast didn’t mention any rain in the afternoon, I decided to drive to Brandal to finally hike Sneldelida via Knutnakken. I was a bit disappointed about the pouring rain when I got to Brandal.
But the rain didn’t last long, and I headed up the green forest. I enjoyed being here. The question was now – would I run into terrain that was a little bit too steep?
As the ridge rose steeply above me, I decided to seek left and get onto the ridge before it got too steep. At first, I though this ridge was too tricky to scramble, but it all sorted itself out quite nicely! I enjoyed this ridge. Big fun!
The onward terrain wasn’t so enjoyable. The upside was that I had never done this route to Sneldelida, and the reward would be a brand-new track for my GPS map.
The neighbouring ridge – to Saudebønakken – is also quite fun.
The wind was picking up, but the rain stayed away. I had two hats on, but the wind was so cold that I had to put my dune jacket on, just for the sake of the hood.
I have to admit that the route to Sneldelida was quite boring. My relatively new shoes lost the battle against the wet ground, and my feet were cold and wet.
But I still enjoyed the hike.
The surroundings were majestic…
… and I could also see a little bit of Ålesund.
And finally, the top on Sneldelida came into view.
The biggest reward of the hike was of course the Crepuscular Rays. Just stunning!
Thanks to the cold wind, my stay on top was short. I had finally decided on my descent route and sat course for Ytredalen (the alternative was Indredalen).
As I got close to Brandal, a river was between me and the car, and I had no intention of trying to cross it. But fortunately, I found a bridge and a few minutes later, I was back at the car.
