Friday: Today, we decided to go ice-skating on lake Anestølsvatnet in Sogndalsdalen. It would be a much bigger lake than the pond on Stedjeåsen we skated on the day before.
I really looked forward to this. And today, we had helmets!
The lake is squeezed in between tall mountains. Quite a scenery!
Eventually, we had the lake in view…
…and saw that there were many people on the ice (the majority not showing on this picture)
What I thought was open water was clear ice.
And then we got going!
The ice was of varying quality. Some was good, some was not so good.
Skating on the clear ice was scary in the beginning…
…but we got used to it.
It was good fun. And then we got blue sky.
Attaching a reel…
After 1,5 hours, we decided to call it a day.
We met some friends, which was unavoidable in a small place like Sogndal.
Then we headed back to the car.
Major scenery all around.
My mom was still in the hospital in Sandnessjøen, diagnosed with a prolapse. Not an ideal condition for an 80-year-old, who loves to go hiking every day. It was clear that I would soon have to go to the north of Norway to support her, but right now, it was unclear how long she would stay in the hospital. And the hospital didn’t allow visitors.
In the afternoon, we went to the local cinema to see the latest Flåklypa movie – “fra Paris til pyramidene”. Man, that was funny. I enjoyed myself from the beginning to the end. Roll of the dice: 6!
I had bought Mastermind for Christmas. Haven’t played this game since I was a kid. A very fun revisit!
Trip statistics: 3,1km on foot, 10,5km on skates, 80 vertical meters, 2h:12m
