Sogndal – on the way to Stedjeåsen

Monday (week 23): Two days until departure for Rhodes. But first, I had to transport myself from Sunnmøre to Oslo Airport Gardermoen. That trip was split into two legs.

On Monday, I drove to Anne’s place in Sogndal in the afternoon. We were to hand over Karma to Ane & Jostein (the breeders) the next morning, and I wanted a final hike with her before saying goodbye for a week.

The hike went across the local top Stedjeåsen – a top I had been to 90 times. Today would be #91. Perhaps I should bring a cake for #100…

We had nice weather and a nice round trip…

Trip statistics: 5,9 km, 550 vertical meters, 1h:30m.

Hornsberget

Tuesday (week 23): I handed over Karma to Ane just before noon and a couple of hours later, we were ready for departure to eastern Norway. To our friends Eva & Bjørn by Randsfjorden.

When we got there, they invited us to an evening hike. The target was “Hornskleiva” – which was on the list of tops and places that Eva was following.

The route

We drove to Bråten – just before Randsfjorden makes a bend to the east. We followed a path up to Hornskleiva, where we could sign the register.

Signed in…

Then I proposed that we could try to locate the high point. We followed the path towards Høkleberget and then went off-trail in the direction of point 424m on the map. In retrospect, it turned out that there is a point 0,2km to the west – 1 meter higher. Sigh… The different map layers do not always correlate…

We agreed to take a different route back to the car. I suggested going “childish mode“, which meant negotiating all kinds of hurdles – selected by me.

Being childish for a little while…

Back in “Scheeskroken“, we had a nice evening with our friends. We would stay for several days once back from Rhodes, but now it was time to get some sleep. We had to get up in the middle of the night for the morning flight

Trip statistics: 5,5 km, 250 vertical meters, 2h:25m.
