Laupsnipa (558m), July 31 2024
Wednesday: Tuesday was resting day for the both of us. The hike to Ljosuregga didn’t go unnoticed. I was tired after a long and intense summer and the knee was aching. Karma was limping, but I assumed she would be OK in a day or two.
She limped all through Tuesday and a little this morning. After work, I decided to do a hike by myself to Laupsnipa and take her across Rambjøra afterwards, providing she was looking OK and seemed interested.
I drove to Voldnes and parked down by the fjord, by Mowi. I’m not sure one is supposed to park there if you don’t work there. Two people were staring my way, but they didn’t say anything.
The first 1/3 of the hike was painful because of my knee. But when the body got warm, the knee felt better.
I like Laupsnipa a lot. I don’t like the lower 1/3rd, but once above the forest, this is a great mountain to hike! It’s also a great mountain to ski, if you enjoy the feeling of skiing with a fjord right below you.
From the top, I sat course towards Laupskeipen – a smaller top on the ridge westbound.
From Laupskeipen, I headed off-trail down to lake Voldnesvatnet and from there, followed a vague path that took me back to the tractor road I came up.

Rambjøra (132m), July 31 2024
Karma was crazy when I got back. I had been away for less than two hours, but that’s a lifetime for a Barbet when it’s outside the normal.
She seemed OK and more than willing to come along for a walk across Rambjøra.
It was good to see her walking normally again! As for me, I had a feeling it would be smart to give the knee some rest. But not in this nice weather! It just had to wait…
