This was our 2nd day of our Easter vacation on Beitostølen. The wind was still too strong to allow for trips in the higher mountains so Anne and me chose to visit the lower tops nearby Beitostølen.
We started out in the first right-hand curve on the Vinstervegen road – just below the point where the toll road begins. We passed a few cabins and the signpost “Javnberget 2km” signpost. We skied up the dense forest along the summer trail and realized the descent could be … challenging.
Next, we crossed a forest road and continued up the summer trail. We went into Stuvedalen and really started to enjoy our day up here;
On top of Stuvedalen, we turned right and skied up to Javnberget. The summit was slightly above the treeline and we got some really good views from up here. The landmarks were lined up; Bitihorn, Skaget, Rundemellen – to name a few.
We descended along our ascent route and had a challenging ride down the dense forest, on narrow skis. But nevertheless, fun!
We had already agreed to visit Liahovda next, but first – lunch at Raudalshytta.
5,1km, 275 vertical meters, 1h:40m.
