A nice route from Årvika

Wednesday: Without thinking about it, I was attracted to the Larsnes region again. It’s been a while since I hiked Årvikveten from Årvika. From here, I have always hiked from the old soccer field, knowing that after a while, I join a route coming up from the left. But where does that route start? Today, I found out.
We parked down by the ferry harbor and headed up to the yellow house.
After going in the “wrong direction” for 250m, the route turned northeast.
I did enjoy this route a lot. Especially the green parts.
The forest was a great contrast to the snowy mountains…
After a while, we joined the route I know from earlier hikes.
The plan was to follow the normal route to the top of Årvikveten…
But then I discovered a marked path towards Torsethornet, which I didn’t know about. I chose to follow that path, of course…
This path took us up to the path between Torsethornet and Årvikveten. We could have continued to Torsethornet, but I didn’t. No reason to go there.
Instead, we sat the course for Årvikveten.
For the 3rd day in a row, we were in the very outskirts of roaming rain showers. Maybe we are on a lucky strike!
The bonus for taking chances with the weather could be a stunning light and wonderful contrasts.
Karma has had a busy February. It’s the way I wanted it. She will undergo another surgery next week and I just wanted her to have as much fun on the trails in February as possible. January was primarily dominated by her first surgery.
From Årvikveten, we took the normal route down. The rain showers were not far away!
Down in the forest, we turned left onto the path towards the old soccer field. It’s so funny with Karma. If we are retracing our steps, she falls in behind. But the second we’re onto a new path or trail, she’s in the lead.
A good hike!
