Saturday: The shape and form was better than the day before, for sure. After breakfast, I suggested to Anne that we should hike Laupsnipa from Tødenes by Skredestranda.
I’ve only done this route once, back in 2021 – when I biked (w/Karma) from Liset to Tødenes and hiked across Fyre and Veten.
Today, the goal was Laupsnipa, and we both truly enjoyed the nice forest.
After a couple of days with < 500 vertical meters, I had some catching up to do. I assumed this hike would give me something between 6-700 vertical meters.
The first leg was completed when we reached lake Slokevatnet.
It was really windy at times today. We chose to go off-trail from the Laupsnipa – Vasshornet pass, just to get a break from the wind.
There was no escape from the wind when we reached the high ridge. But it wasn’t that bad…
I really like this ridge. It’s quite dramatic with the fjord just below.
After passing Keipen (Laupskeipen), we met 2 couples (not hiking together) and we chatted with both of them. The first couple informed us that there was potential landslide danger up here. Soon after, we found this information board. From what I could see, the dangerous area was Keipen – which we just had come across.
And then we reached the top of Laupsnipa!
This is one of the few tops on Gurskøya that I never get bored from.
There is no apparent round-trip option on this route, so we headed back the same way.
We stopped by Keipen one more time, ignoring the potential landslide hazard.
Moving on, I said to Anne that it would have been cool to hike across Vasshornet and return along the meadow between Fyre and Vasshornet. Anne was game and we sat course for Vasshornet.
A little bit later, top #2 was in the bag…
I also enjoy the ridge from Vasshornet. It offers a nice view towards the Gursken fjord.
Then we returned to lake Slokevatnet.
When we arrived at the lake, we were intrigued by the thin ice.
We were both able to stand on the ice (for a few seconds) without the ice collapsing.
Then we headed back down to Tødenes.
A really fun hike!
Trip statistics: 10km, 740 vertical meters, 3h:41m
