Wednesday: The general shape and form took a dive – again. I decided to cheer me up during an intense working day and placed an order for a new car. It will be my 3rd Caddy Maxi. I love that car. It was darn expensive though. They (the Government) want us to buy electrical. But I’m not ready for that yet. So it only cheered me up to a certain extent…
After work, I decided to hike in the neighbourhood as Anne was on her way up from Sogndal. The choice fell on the Garneskrysset – Flåna – Garnestua – Garneshornet round trip.
Some years ago, we used to hike this route a lot.
Nowadays, I prefer to hike from Haddal. This particular route is a bit overgrown in the forest section.
As such, it’s always nice to get above the forest.
But above the forest, it was windy.
Let me rephrase that. It was really windy.
It was a bit cool though. I’ve not seen such a standalone snowdrift before. Karma didn’t enjoy it.
Besides the wind, the weather was just OK. It wasn’t grand like so many other days in February, but OK.
But if the wind was stronger on the mountain, this would not be an enjoyable hike.
Fortunately, it wasn’t. When we hiked from Flåna to Garnestua, the wind was tolerable.
I was tired. Something wasn’t right. I fear that the infection I’ve tried to fight with two rounds with antibiotics has resurfaced. I sent a message to the Doctor after the hike. He replied that he would follow up. As long as things are in motion, I’ll endure.
And then we reached the main goal for today.
Looking down on lake Hammarstøylsvatnet, I thought about the nice hike across Løkeberget on Saturday, when we hiked on two frozen lakes on our way back. Unfortunately, it’s getting warmer now. I had plans to do more fun stuff on frozen lakes.
Daylight was fading. I guessed that we would reach the car just in time for the headlamp to come on.
We followed the route towards Haddal for a little while.
Then we went off-trail and aimed for the dam down by the lake.
Karma is an off-trail dog. Her energy level is going through the roof when we leave the paths.
I didn’t really need the extra vertical meters, but we passed across Garneshornet (454m) also. It was windy here as well…
Time to get back down. Going down an icy path with little daylight was cumbersome, but I didn’t want to reduce the lifetime of the headlamp if I didn’t have to.
Anne arrived at the house just before we did. Karma went nuts when she realized that mommy was here.
Trip statistics: 7,5km, 750 vertical meters, 2h:10m
