Saturday: After the Kistenuten hike, I went to bed for a couple of hours. When I got up, just before 5pm, I was still not feeling OK. I didn’t really have a headache, but I was tired and moving my head felt awkward.
I didn’t know how many vertical meters the hike to Kistenuten brought along, but for sure, less than 500 (my average goal per day). As such, I decided to hike up to Rundekult, which would give me approx. 300 additional vertical meters.
I took the bike from the cabin and biked down to Jønndalen Høyfjellseter, and a little bit up the cabin road before I parked the car.
The lower forest was almost free of snow, and easy.
Higher up, it was a bit more cumbersome. I had snow all the way up to my knee, but not for long periods.
Just as I got above the forest, and back on solid ground, Anne called me – to let me know that she could see me. It’s that type of phone call where you can only reply – “thanks”…
I was rapidly approaching my target. This hike felt way shorter than I thought it would…
I wanted to hike Austre Salhovde as well, but that top would simply have to wait.
And then I was up, way faster than I had imagined. I had said to Anne that I will be back in 2 hours, but I was on top only 30 minutes after leaving the cabin.
Because of the snow in the forest, and the fact that I had to bike upwards from Jønndalen Høyfjellseter, the descent wasn’t any faster than the ascent. I returned to the cabin exactly 1 hour after leaving…
The vertical meter count for the day turned out to be 760m, which was OK.
Trip statistic: 4,6km, 330 vertical meters, 1h:00m
