Beautiful colors between rain showers

Monday: Rain showers were defining the weather this Monday. Between the showers, it was just gorgeous and after work, I decided to drive to Rystefeltet in Ørsta and take my chances on Melshornet. Maybe I would be lucky.
Or maybe I wouldn’t…
I’m not used to looking down on rainbows…
At least, it didn’t rain when we headed out. If it got too bad higher up, there are “escape routes” and so we continued up the forest.
I like the route from Rystefeltet. There’s a lot of rock (either put there or natural) and I do like rock.
Then we headed up to “Pølsa” (the sausage) – is a windsock that indicates wind strength. I assume that it is paragliders who keep an eye on it.
“Pølsa” offers a good view towards Hovden airport. Maybe a good spot for planespotters if they’re looking for some variation…
From “Pølsa”, we followed the trail towards Melshornet.
A couple of Eurasian Golden Plovers were making noise…
Now, we just had the final climb ahead of us…
Back on Melshornet for the 57th time. And I don’t even live in the Ørsta – Volda region…
The view towards Ørsta is worth the drive. At least when it’s sunny…
Sandhornet looks particularly nice when seen from Melshornet. It’s weird – Sandhornet is ~100m higher than Melshornet, but looks lower…
Another weird thing was that we were completely alone on the mountain. Maybe folks got spooked by the rain showers.
For descent, we took the normal route down to Dinglavatnet. It was still not raining. Bonus!
But something black was moving in from the south.
When we passed lake Dinglavatnet, I reckoned it would start pouring down any minute…
We continued down to Osdalen valley and returned to the car without any rain. But once we were back on the main road, the heavens opened.
I was SO happy to get to do this hike without the rain. It was a really nice hike!
