Back again on “Good island” !

Thursday: Ålesund day and a trip to the vet for blood samples. Karma has been drinking excessively lately and has some hair loss. The theory on the table is the Cushing Disease. But they wanted a urine sample also, and since I couldn’t make that happen there and then, I had to do this during my lunch break and take the results back to the vet, having the most weird car drive of the year. Next time, I’ll make sure to get a hold of a test glass also…
After work, I drove to Godøya.
Ever since our good friend Arngeir passed away, I’ve been funding his website – www.haramfjell.com, but in October this year, the web hotel abruptly shut down. My old website – www.westcoastpeaks.com also went down, but because I had registered the domain elsewhere, I was up and running again on a new web hotel within days.
Unfortunately, the haramfjell.com domain was locked down and all my efforts to get the domain transferred, failed. Now I have to wait until it’s available on the market again. The site contents got lost too, but Arngeirs wife had a backup disk, that she had given to our mutual friend Trond.
As Trond lives on Godøya island, I figured I could combine the trip out there with a hike across Storhornet. So, Karma and I would do the hike first, then go see Trond.
Godøya is an island I know very well, and I was thrilled to be back. Since I moved to Gurskøy in 2008, Godøya has become farther away and that is just sad.
I really looked forward to getting up the mountain and enjoy the sunset.
Then we got onto the mountain trail, which has become really nice over the years.
When we got to the Lesten – Storhornet pass, I felt that we should absolutely hurry in order to enjoy the sunshine on top…
The sun hadn’t set just yet, but it was a matter of minutes…
Unfortunately, the sun hid behind some skies just before setting, but I didn’t complain. The shine from the Sykkylven region was just awesome.
Even with the sun gone, we still had light left and I decided to descend via Sloktinden.
If I had more time, I would have descended to Alnes and returned through the tunnel…
It was nice to see a plane come in for landing at Vigra, and later I learned that a buddy of mine was on that plane.
And so we continued towards Sloktinden on fine stone steps – not made by Sherpas…
I’ve just lost count of the many stunning afternoons this autumn…
And then we reached Sloktinden…
After passing across Sloktinden, we headed down the Valkveegga ridge until we got down to the gravel road. I realized that we were a little behind on schedule, and so we jogged the remaining 3km back to the car.
I then stopped by Trond and picked up the backup disk. Now I just have to wait until February to secure my friend’s domain…
