Continued from summer vacation, day 4…
Thursday: Another super-hot day in Brønnøysund and I wanted to get my daily dose of 500 vertical meters before: a) it got too hot and b) Anne was enough awake to make any other plans. So, I decided to hike Mosaksla.
I drove to the Mosaksla trailhead and headed up a path I know quite well.
What was a bit different about this hike was that I was terribly dizzy. This was the 2nd time in a few weeks, and the 3rd time in maybe 1,5 months. I assumed it wasn’t dangerous. I was just dizzy when I got up or was walking. I was OK when sitting or driving.
In the steepest section of the trail, it was a bit awkward, but far from dangerous. I assumed I would walk it off.
The rest of the route to the top was uneventful.
I do love this mountain. There are so many cool routes. Unfortunately – today, I only had time for the normal route. We had very important things to do in Brønnøysund. Or “shopping”, as Anne is calling it.
I was quite hot and noticed that there was a pond just below the top, deep enough to swim a little. That was delightful!
Very nice indeed, but now I had to get back to Anne and join her for shopping.

After shopping, I had a pair of new Salomon terrain shoes, which I didn’t like at all. They felt “wrong” compared to my La Sportiva terrain shoes (which the store didn’t have). And why the color black?
But I also had bought 3 pairs of Disc Golf starter kits. It was time for us and mom to try this out for the first time and we went to the Svarthopen course.
Mom had difficulties controlling the force applied and the direction.
Anne was getting the point but lacked the precision.
I had been throwing frisbees around when I was a kid, but that didn’t help me now. I’m used to throwing a frisbee in a straight line for maybe 50 meters. Now, I wasn’t able to throw any of the frisbees in a straight line. At all!
But I understood how to compensate and was staying on par, which was not impressive by any means.
Karma was hot and didn’t enjoy walking from basket to basket. So, Anne took Karma down to the fjord for some swimming. Mom and I continued. I finished the 12 (of 20 or 21) baskets on par without feeling cocky at all.
Mom was actually getting the hang of it, near the end. I think she found it a little bit fun…
Afterwards, we had a nice swim in the fjord.
At 7:30pm, it was time for Halvdan Sivertsen on the main stage at the Roots festival.
Halvdan is a legendary singer-songwriter and guitarist, nation-wide known for some classic songs like “Kjærlighetsvisa” and “Sommerfuggel I Vinterland”.
Compared to the day before, the vocals were crystal clear, and the music blended in beautifully with the vocals. Everyone was enjoying themselves.
After the concert, mom went back home, Anne stayed on to check out Travis (the band) and I took Karma to Svarthopen for an evening swim.
Even in the fjord, the temperature was so nice.
I don’t know, but I hope that Karma loved every second in the water. There had already been quite a few, during this summer break.
A bit later, I went back to town to pick up Anne. She could report that Travis was not as good as Halvdan! He he…
Mosaksla Trip statistics: 4,4km, 540 vertical meters, 1h:32m
