Sunday: I woke up in Langadalen and the weather was not as great as the day before. The forecast promised rain and so I wanted to get going early on.

We were on our way to Skrokkenfjellet, 06:47, after breakfast.

We were lucky with respect to cows. We were surrounded by them last evening, but they were nowhere to be seen now. We aimed for the river from lake Måsvatnet.

The plan was to ascend Skrokkenfjellet as soon as possible, but I changed my plan and decided to hike almost all the way to Måsvassbu (DNT cabin) before we started to climb up the mountain.

I made use of the time on the path, and studied ALL nearby mountains – for future visits…

The terrain was OK, except for a belt of bush that we had to pass through.

Getting through the bush wasn’t too difficult and we had a good view towards Måsvassbu on our way up.

Eventually, we reached the north ridge and had a rocky mountain ahead of us.

There was a tiny piece of snow left and Karma made good use of it.

Maybe I should join her?

And then we were up!

The time was 8:08am and it was a really good start of the day…

From the top, we had a good view towards the Snarketinden – Rjuptindane route we did the day before.

I felt light rain in the air, and I wanted to get moving. I chose to descend the east ridge – the ridge I had planned to ascend. It was fairly easy to navigate down the mountainside.

The return to the trailhead was uneventful, and 2h:18m after leaving the car, we were ready to leave Langadalen and take the long way back home.

Sunday: On our way home, the weather got better, and I decided that we were good for one more hike. I drove up Vengedalen to hike Storhesten.

I had been to Vengedalen (or is it Venjedalen?) two times before. I skied Blånebba in Apr 2006 and climbed Romsdalshorn in Aug 2006. It had been a while!

I drove up to the parking by Vengedalssætra and we got ready to hike the famous Romsdalseggen trail.

The start of the hike was easy enough…

I took a look at Romsdalshorn and couldn’t believe that I had actually climbed that wall!

It was a hot day, Karma was thirsty, but fortunately – access to water was not a problem.

Many hikers were on their way to Romsdalseggen, but as soon as we had gained enough elevation, we left the trail and aimed for Storhesten.

We didn’t find a path until we were almost up, but the terrain was overall easy.

And then we reached our 5th top (prominence >= 100m) this weekend.

Yeah!
Yeah!

Store Vengetind – OMG – I can’t wait to get up there…

One day...

We continued northbound for a little while, to get to a viewpoint where we would get a good view towards Isfjorden.

We had a good view towards Gjuratind (or is it Juratind?) – which I was fortunate enough to climb back in May 2012.

Then it was time to descend the mountain and get back home. I followed the path and it didn’t take us back to the Romsdalseggen path.

I quicky realized that this was the old path to Storhesten and that this path would take us down to Vengedalssætra.

It did, and we were back at the car 2h:25m after leaving.
