Our route up and down Øyenibba
Our route up and down Øyenibba

Friday: On our way to Sogndal again, this time to spend some days with friends coming over from eastern Norway.

I had to figure out where to walk the dog and landed on a revisit to Øyenibba (aka Middagsfjellet). But this time, via Grodåssætra (our previous hike went from Ytre Svor). I had only done that route once before, in 2013 – together with mom and Karma. A revisit was overdue.

Ready for the hike...
Ready for the hike…

Karma was not game, to put it mildly. It was a hot day and that was probably her problem. She refused to walk and then I had to persuade her to do just that. I know her well. Once she gets going, it’s all good.

Once we got onto the forest path, it was all good. She doesn’t like roads…

Finally, she got going...

Then we reached Grodåssætra. I hadn’t been here before. Later, I checked my GPS track from 2013 and then we followed the forest road.

Now, we had a good and long forest traverse ahead of us.

Fortunately, Karma found water here and there in the forest. That was really important, because I hadn’t brought any. And on top, she would get all the water she possibly could drink.

Climbing steadily...

I had forgotten about the lower part of this route, but I remembered the upper route. It was nice to be back!

Nice path!

And it was good to get some views!

We reached the cairn (830m) within the hour. This is however not the high point.

Sorry, Karma. We're not up just yet...

I wanted to get Karma into the lake asap, but I also wanted to take pictures. I told her to go down to the lake by herself. She was very reluctant. That was too far away from daddy, seemingly. But eventually, the temptation became too strong.

Take your time down there!

And I could take my pictures.

A few minutes later, I could “register” my 3rd visit to this top.

We had good views from this top, too!

It was nice to be up here, but we had to get moving. Anne was waiting. Without rushing anything. You can’t be in a hurry with a thirsty dog…
