Saturday: I woke up 4am with a bad headache. Not from the beer, but from tension. The morning was a mess but eventually, at 10am, Karma and Anne got me out of bed. I was a big mess and didn’t really know why.

But OK. Breakfast was good and I started looking forward to a good hike. We agreed to hike Kistenuten and bring Karma along. Karma was the big wildcard. How far would she go before she signalled that enough was enough, and what would we do then?

We drove to Flåtåsetre, parked the car and headed up the cabin village road.

When we got on the path, Karma looked totally OK, and I had a feeling that she would be alright.

It was nice to get above the forest, as the snow up there would carry our weight, in contrast to the snow in the forest.

Then Karma had a roll. That doesn’t typically raise any eyebrows, but today, we interpreted that in the best way. She was OK so far.

After a little while, Kistenuten came into view.

And a little bit later, I could celebrate my 2nd new top with a prominence > 100m this year. The goal used to be 100+ per year, but after Covid, I’ve settled for 50. It’s still a long way to go…

This was a most excellent viewpoint towards Hallingskarvet

Everyone agreed to a plan involving a return via Falkeberget.

This is our first Easter vacation ever, where we haven’t been skiing. But we do plan to go skiing on Monday…

I didn’t mind hiking at all. Don’t get me wrong. I like skiing. Preferably going down a steep mountain on randonée equipment, but off-trail mountain skiing is great too.

Having passed Falkeberget, we began our descent. The plan was to descend to Småstølane and follow the main road back to Flåtåsetre.

The snow was a little struggle here and there, but overall – the descent went OK.

With respect to Karma, we good some good answers as to what she is capable of – right now, but without getting any closer to the problem of why she hardly wants to move at all, in the morning and in the evening.

Maybe she’s turned into Cindy Crawford, who didn’t get out of bed for less than 10,000 dollars…

Life in the cabin was good. Karma relaxed, Anne made dinners and I did the dishes.
