Rambjøra (132m), Oct 9 2023
Monday: In short – a very unpleasant weather day. In other words, a perfect day for trail maintenance in my local forest. Today, we focused on the branch from Møre Skule and up to where the path joins the path from Myrvågtoppen.
Seeing that the path transforms from overgrown from nice makes me happy. And based on feedback on Facebook groups, others are happy too!

Nakken (180m), Oct 10 2023
Tuesday: Yet another day where the best choice would be to stay indoors. But I had a “chore” for the local trail maintenance group and that was to get the Hillesteinen page on morotur.no in good shape, with accurate distances.
The route from Leikong to Hillesteinen is not part of our group’s responsibility, but we try to help where we can.
However, we have a route that passes Hillesteinen. It’s a bit complicated. The best thing would be to join forces with the Leikong group. This route continues to Nakken, which is part of our (Turstiprosjektet Myrvåg/Tjørvåg) responsibility.
On our way down from Nakken, I was happy to see that another member of the group had been doing good work with the brush cutter. The difference between before-and-after is seen on the below picture.
We took the pedestrian walk along the main road back to Leikong – in pouring rain.

Rambjøra (142m), Oct 12 2023
Thursday: The weather on Wednesday was just too awful to go hiking, but today, we were back in the Rambjøra forest, to do some more good.
Fortunately, the weather had improved a little and it was quite alright to spend some time in this forest today.
Then, a minor accident occurred. Not with the brush cutter, but while ripping up some weed. Of course, I had to post it on Facebook, and got the expected comments, like “Easy on the weed, Arnt”.

Sogndal, Oct 13 2023
Friday: Transport day to Sogndal, and Anne was eager to show me her fresh produce…
Looks like big potatoes for dinner…
And carrots…
Kjørrdalen, Aug 14 2023
Saturday: Sogndal Turlag has taken over the cabin at Kjørrdalen, and today was “Dugnad” (voluntary work) in order to get this cabin ready for the 2024 season.
I didn’t sign up for this. I thought I was doing alright locally, but Anne figured that a) this would be right up my alley and b) they could use my assistance and signed me up. She did check with me first. When I learned that I knew most of these guys, it was all good.
The meeting point was Åberge, but I decided to hike from Røvhaugane. I have this feeling that the people on Åberge aren’t too keen on people parking up there. I may be wrong. I hope I am…
In any case, it was nice with the extra walk…
I met up with the others and we carried our load up to Kjørrdalen. I carried two chainsaws and petrol. My chainsaw was running on battery and would only last for so long. Good to have a second, running on petrol. This way, I was hoping I would get chainsaw chores, and I did…
The cabin had been totally refurbished and looked great!
In the beginning, I was mixing cutting fallen trees and chopping wood.
It was for the most part raining, but we had one longer pause from the rain and Karma decided to come out. Kiki – stayed inside the cabin.
After a while, I focused on cutting the fallen trees while the others helped pile up the wood.
The dogs were NOT impressive today…
After ~4 hours of work, we returned to Røvhaugane.
On our way, we stopped by the new “Gapahuk” at Røvhaugane. It was nice to see this in a finished state, as I met with the architects earlier this year.
Very nice! This “concept” needs a lift…

Slakkafjellet (855m), Oct 15 2023
Sunday: Today, Anne said yes to come along to Slakkafjellet with Karma and me. Given her Park Ranger job, I can’t always expect her to be in mood for extra hiking. But first, she had to do the regular Sunday morning swim in the fjord – along with the usual bunch.
I am not interested in “waking up” like this on a Sunday morning. But, I can pick her up…
After breakfast, we drove to Flugheim and headed up the mountain service road.
I had no interest in following this road to the top of Skardsbøfjellet, so the more outside this road we were, the better…
There were few signs of winter on the mountain…
Fortunately, there is a forest path also…
We just had to cross the road to continue on the forest path…
There was a nice light in the forest.
Eventually, we reached the Slakken cabin – ~600m. Only 250 vertical meters to go…
We had a nice Sogndal view from up here.
One thing was for sure – the snowline was higher in Sogndal than back home. Not by “a mile”, but higher.
Time to leave the autumn landscape…
Enter winter…
As we approached the top, I was surprised to see other hikers up here…
Karma turned 5 years younger once we reached snow.
The Skriki mountain looked cold!
And then we were up!
We took a different route down to Slakken.
Looking towards Tylderingen – I was 100% convinced that my next visit there would be on skis. But – I hiked this mountain more than 1 month later – on foot. On snow from the trailhead, though. But there wasn’t a lot of it. Full winter wasn’t around the corner after all…
