My route to Krosshø
My route to Krosshø

Sunday: After the nice and strenuous hike to Tverrådalskyrkja, I went to sleep at 9:30pm, exhausted from a lot of headache. I woke up at 5am at Terje’s cabin on Strynefjellet, but was able to get back to sleep and at 8am, I felt that I have had enough rest. I got up and Terje got up soon after. He would return to Ulsteinvik in Geir’s car (his car was left at Sognefjellshytta) in a couple of hours. I had a very light breakfast and began my return to Sogndal.

It was a beautiful day, and I had decided to hike Krosshø on my way to Sogndal. I drove to Grotli and found the “Danskehytta” trailhead. I would follow the path to “Danskehytta” for 3,5km.

I was happy. The path was nice, and I had the entire day all to myself.

The fact that Krosshø seemed far away didn’t bother me at all. This would just have to take the time needed.

It was uplifting to see that I was closing in on the mountain.

Eventually, I could start thinking about my ascent route. It was pretty obvious.

The easiest route followed the snow fields.

The terrain was rocky, but I found the off-trail hiking quite easy.

Then I ran into a hare. Its MO was to stand perfectly still and hope that the danger would pass. When I moved, it moved, and our ways parted.

Cool!

By now, I was a bit eager to get to the top. The upper hillside felt long!

I enjoyed the terrain but now I wanted to reach the top!

But eventually, the top came into view.

I was happy when I reached the top. Now, I could enjoy my last slices of bread that I didn’t finish on the Tverrådalskyrkja the day before.

While enjoying my lunch, I studied the views. I am not so familiar with the Tafjord – Reinheimen mountains, but after this hike, I wanted to spend much more time there.

Peak after peak, and I haven't been to any of them!

I still haven’t done the Høgstolen – Puttegga – Karitinden round. That will happen, but I also want to hike Tordsnose.

Eventually, it was time to head back down. I enjoyed the descent.

I looked back on Krosshø and promised myself that this was just the beginning of my travels in the mountains north of the Strynefjellet road.
