Wednesday: Our last full day in Jønndalen started rainy and foggy. We waited until the afternoon to go hiking.
Our stay here has: a) been long – in our own context and b) short – in terms of time spent and things done. I wouldn’t have minded spending an extra day just relaxing. As for the mountains, there was nothing else for us to explore. As such, it was OK to leave.
We drove up to Solheimstulen (again) and followed the Nordmannslepa road.
After 1,5km, we got bored by the road and went off-trail, aiming at distinct point.
Arriving at the nameless point, we were now on the plateau and could – without a compass – set a meaningful course in the fog.
On snow, 50% of it didn’t carry our weight. When it didn’t, it was a nightmare. When it did, it was a blessing.
Eventually, we had Remmarhovda in view.
On top, Anne found a skull – probably a sheep. Karma was very interested in it, but didn’t get it.
For our return, we decided to aim for Solheimstulberget, but this time – on the other side of the lake.
The weather got better by the minute…
Karma and I stopped by a point where we had a good view towards Jønndalen – a valley we can safely say we know quite well by now…
Then we sat course for Solheimstulberget.
Anne was lagging behind and I’m not sure what mood she was in, but they sky above her looked dark…
But eventually, we were reunited.
The descent – along a mountain path – took place in pure sunshine. We were certainly overdressed for the occasion.
Back at the trailhead, we had finished 4 days and one afternoon in Jønndalen, and covered 64,5km on foot and on skis. We’re certainly “friends of Jønndalen” by now…
Trip statistic: 8,3km, 430 vertical meters, 2h:34m
