Thursday: We left the rented cabin in Jønndalen well before the deadline at 10am. We were now on our way to Hov in Søndre Land to stay with friends for a couple of days.

The weather forecast promised a lot of rain during the day, but it hadn’t begun yet. As we were approaching Gol, I suggested that we should hike Veikulnatten. That would give me my “daily dose” of 500 vertical meters.

We drove up to Grangard and parked below the farm, near the trailhead (signposted).

The path was easy enough to follow, and now that it had started raining a little, I looked forward to getting into the forest.

The forest path was overall OK. A little muddy here and there and with some fallen trees.

But overall, I enjoyed the path. One notable thing was that the path was littered with moose poo, from beginning to end.

The landscape near the top surprised us a little. We hadn’t expected to find a steep terrain near the top.

The actual top was (arguably) slightly above the forest line. Unfortunately, there was fog, and we didn’t get any views. On the upside, it had stopped raining.

We took the same route back down, except for a variation near the Grangard farm. As soon as we started driving, we saw a moose pair close by the road. For sure, these were the “poo culprits”. I only got one of them on (phone) camera. It was a nice moment, and I didn’t want to disturb them by trying to get a good shot.

Afterwards, we drove to Hov and “checked in” with our friends Eva & Bjørn. It was nice to see them again.

Trip statistic: 6,6km, 530 vertical meters, 2h:12m
