Tuesday: Another day with gorgeous weather and I decided to spend the afternoon on a hike across Lidaveten in Volda municipality. Like (nearly) always, I headed up from Berkneset.
My timing was good. Just as I came out of the forest, the horizon was golden.
For the first time, I met another person on the route from Berkneset. That is, she was coming down. We chatted a bit. She spoke Norwegian quite well, but her accent suggested that she might be German. And I didn’t ask.
The final rays from the sun decorated the mountains in a beautiful way.
I knew I was a bit early to get the after-dark pictures that I normally aim for. But I figured I’ve taken enough after-dark pictures this winter season and decided to enjoy the daylight.
When I reached Tua, I could see the top for the first time on this hike.
It was good to get a break from my local mountains, which I could easily see from here.
I just loved this weather…
Those above me, flying into the night, were surely enjoying the views from their seats.
The daylight was fading quickly, but I decided to not to wait the 20 minutes until the combination of light and darkness was exactly what I wanted.
So, I didn’t get the lights from Ørsta that I might have wanted, but at least I got a wonderful, pink shine.
I enjoy this hobby. I can’t think of anything else I would replace it with.
Of course, it would have been perfect to share these moments with Anne, but I’m quite good at enjoying them all by myself too.
Like (nearly) always, I decided to descend to Eideim and return to Bekneset via paths and roads. This is a round-trip hike I like a lot.
If I had waited 10 more minutes, the Ørsta lights would have been predominant, but I decided to head down.
Halfway down the forest, the lights were now distinct, but I got some trees in the foreground that reduced the quality of the picture.
The path was icy here and there and my ice cleats came on and off. But I took them off when I came down from the mountain. The route back to Berkneset was for the most part ice-free.
Nice hike!
