Continued from: Dalavardin….

Monday: We enjoyed a nice breakfast at Filefjellsstuene. The only issue was that I woke up at 5am from a terrible pain in a finger. Did I have a splint or was it the nail itself? Hard to say. I sterilized a scissor and dug hard into the problem area. Pus came out and it was hurting like heck.

The reason for this unplanned stay at Tyinkrysset was that Anne wanted to go skiing on the last day of Easter.

We had expected a cold night, blue sky and sunshine in the morning, but got cloudy weather. It was 4 degrees C., which could be a problem with respect to Karma and the snow. We decided to go for Frostdalseggene, which is the name I gave the nameless top NE of Frostdalseggene. To me, this top is on the same ridge and since it’s the high point, it deserves the name.

As we passed lake Tyin, we got a hope that we could see some blue sky during our trip.

When we headed out from Sletterust, it was still cloudy. The snow was hard as ice and as I need some contrasts in the snow to enjoy my descent, I wasn’t too optimistic about what was ahead.

We kept a steady progress up the mountain. Karma looked very eager, and the snow did carry her weight. Good news!

Little by little, the Hurrungane and Jotunheimen tops surfaced. That helped a lot!

But it was still cloudy above us. But now, we had the top in plain sight.

Literally, everything got better by the minute.

And then we reached the top!

The views were top notch!

After a nice stay, we headed back down. I was not so optimistic as I don’t really ski well on mountain skis and bad snow.

But lo and behold, the snow had gotten warmer, and skiing was really nice!

On top of that, the contrasts in the snow were just perfect.

It was difficult to prevent Karma from running, but eventually, she understood that there was no point in rushing anything.

Back at the trailhead, I met an old buddy I used to hang out with in Oslo in the early 90’s. I’m not going to name drop him here, but he has for many years hosted one of the oldest reality shows in Norway. We had a short, but nice catch-up.

Then it was time to get back home. I dropped Anne off in Sogndal before I continued my journey back to Sunnmøre.

Thanks to Anne and Karma for a wonderful Easter break. And thanks to my colleague Thomas who took my on-duty call last week…
