Monday: I decided to start my hiking week by hiking Garnestua from Løset. Once we were on top of the first hill, the nice view towards Garnestua appeared, but nowadays cluttered by the recent antenna.

Normally, when hiking from Løset, we descend the east ridge down to lake Mørkevatnet. Today, I decided we would do this round trip in the opposite direction.

At lake Mørkevatnet, I wanted to do an off-trail route in the middle, but as we were short of daylight, we followed the (vague) path up the left flank on the below picture.

And then we were up – seriously running out of daylight.

It was already getting dark when I took the below picture. I have no idea where my mobile phone found the light

Once back at Løset, I decided to go for a short off-trail walk near the cabin area. When I finally decided to call it a day, I returned along the cabin roads. One of the cabin owners came driving up for an afternoon inspection (I’ve seen him since) and was clearly suspicious when a guy with a headlamp came walking down from his cabin. He got a little less suspicious when he noticed my dog and even less when I said I had been hiking. We parted on a good tone…

Garnestua. It’s truly dark now…

Tuesday: I was feeling really tired after work – totally uninspired. It’s on days like these I wonder what I would have done if I didn’t have a dog. But because there were some years between Troll and Karma, I already know the answer. I would have gone hiking…

Today, I decided to bring the lopper and do some easy maintenance on the Rambjøra trail.

I was just cutting bush while walking, but it felt as if made a little difference…

Wednesday: Garnestua two times in three days is quite unusual, but it was a gorgeous afternoon and I felt like giving Karma a “treat” after yesterday’s slow hike across Rambjøra. She simply adores the route from Haddal, and I guess I owe it all to a hare we saw back in 2014 or something…

Again, there wasn’t much daylight, but I was hoping for at least some glimmer by the time we reached the top.

Oh, we're running late...

We kept a good pace up the forest, and I was happy that I had the excuse to stop for occasional pictures…

The sun left us, but there would still be some minutes with a nice glow, and I made sure to enjoy each of those minutes.

Maybe this is an odd hobby – doing this day after day, but I never get tired of it.

And then we were up!

I made a sudden decision to hike down to Løset – where we hiked from 2 days ago. We were able to get all the way down before it was pitch dark.

Once down on the road, we had 4km back to the car. I decided to jog all the way down Ringstaddalen. It’s a nice valley, but it’s a bit boring when you’ve done this route a number of times…

Friday: Time to return to Sogndal, and I stopped at Utsikten on Utvikfjellet to let the dog walk around a bit.

It was dark when we arrived in Sogndal, and I wanted to give Karma a walk before joining Anne. So, I drove to Folkehøgskulen and started walking up towards Røvhaugane

We continued up to Åberge before starting the descent.

The below picture is totally missing colors and isn’t very good, but it was my first after-dark panorama with the Iphone. I learned that if I only moved the camera slowly enough, I would get something out of it.

After a while, we got down to Sogndalsfjøra.

I love the Fjordstien path. It’s really nice.

Then the hike was over and it was time to enjoy Friday evening with Anne – and a whole week in Sogndal with great hikes…
