Tuesday: I had absolutely zero energy after work. It happens from time to time, but I pushed myself to reach the top of Røddalshorn, come hell or high water…

Step by step, I made progress upwards…

It was a delight to reach the high ridge. Almost there!

Reaching the top was top of pure happiness. Only downhill from here!

I have an expression – “once it gets going, it gets going” and it had started to “get going” and so I decided to descend via Aurvollegga, rather than taking the same way down.

More and more, I enjoy the Aurvollegga ridge…

This is actually excellent terrain. Once you start from Leikongsætra, you could get a really long roundtrip hike if you want…

The part along the main road, back to the trailhead is no fun and so I would have to think of something.

First, we followed the Go-cart track as far as possible, and then we followed unpleasant off-trail terrain back to the trailhead.

Wednesday: The temperatures lately had just been crazy. It was super-hot. If I were to take Karma up a mountain, I had to make sure there was water. But she was also very picky about where she wanted to go. It was so hot that I was quite sure she would refuse to walk, unless I took a look at my book of dirty tricks.

Dirty trick #1 is to find a route where she has seen a hare. Once in her life will nicely do. She never forgets these things. And so I decided to take the steepest route up to Blåtind. It must be 10 years since we saw a hare, but it would effectively be like yesterday…

Anne had come up from Sogndal, but decided to spend her evening on Runde, making sure visitors behaved while looking at the puffins.

There was no water to be found during our climb up the steep hill, but I promised Karma all the water she wanted before we reached the top.

Closing in on the top, it seemed that Karma didn’t think I would deliver on my promise.

"Water, please!"
“Water, please!”

But I always do…

Knock yourself out...

With Karma all tanked up, we took on the last part to Blåtind summit.

Rather than taking the normal route, I chose to find a route that was so steep that Karma was borderline able to follow…

We descended to lake Hundelaupsvatnet, but by now – Karma was no longer thirsty…

Friday: After we returned from the very fun trip to Valldal and Trollstigen, I took Karma for an evening walk across my local forest top Rambjøra.

No trail maintenance today. No lopper, no brush cutter, no rake…

Karma didn’t radiate that she needed this hike, after the trip to Småholtindan earlier in the day. But she didn’t refuse to walk, either…

Saturday: In the morning, I drove Anne to Hovden airport as she was going to eastern Norway.

Back home, I drove to Drageskaret on Gurskøya to do a hike across Årvikveten.

The weather was quite OK. Nothing to complain about!

Although it was cloudy, it was still very hot. The temperatures in mid-May were just crazy!

Approaching Årvikveten, I knew there would be a roundtrip hike. I just didn’t know just where yet…

When we reached the top, I had made up my mind. I would return to Drageskaret via Torsethornet and Keipen.

The goal was to get some tracks that were not already on my – quite extensive GPS map

But the primary focus was to find water for Karma. Thanks to lake Litlevetevatnet, that problem got solved…
