Thursday: I finished work a little earlier, to give the dog an overdue haircut. I had to delay it because of her operation on the back. But now, the worst part was gone. As I wanted a little daylight on our afternoon hike, the fine trimming part will have to wait until the weekend.
It was a gorgeous afternoon, and this was the perfect day to hike Blåtind – the highest mountain on Hareidlandet island. This time, I chose to head out from Eiksund.
Again, I had a slow start. Maybe because of pure age. Maybe because of the antibiotics. Or maybe because of the infection the antibiotics hopefully would mend.
But I was enjoying myself and I looked immensely forward to getting out of the forest and hopefully – witness a marvellous sunset.
Rising above the forest, I enjoyed the sky slowly changing, with warm colors spreading out.
This would be a great afternoon on the mountain!
The only downside was an emerging strong and cold wind. That was already clear by just looking at the fjord!
I tried to get on the lee side of the wind by hiking around Grøthornet and endure a not-so-fun off-trail ascent.
The colors were turning deeper by the minute.
And then we were back again on top! We had to immediately seek shelter from the wind.
The sun had set, and a warm glow was lingering in the horizon. Day was about to fade into night.
And then came Jostein Eiken!
I met Jostein up here back in January last year. It was nice to see him again.
It was just natural to keep each other company on the way down, especially since we were going down the same route. I had already decided to descend the Havåg route, just to get a roundtrip hike.
Back at Eiksund, I spent a few minutes practicing after-dark photography. This time I would try a bit different settings, to keep the exposure time down to ~15 seconds.
Overall – mixed results…
Trip statistics: 8,4km, 710 vertical meters, 2h:27m
