Our route across Mosvarden and Storebroren

Sunday: Inspired by the superb ski-trip to Sollia the day before, we chose to go on yet another ski-trip today. My main goal was Storebroren on Hareidlandet island, but as I had a feeling that might sound a bit too far for Anne, I told her that Mosvarden was the main goal.

It was a white lie, but if she felt for turning around on Mosvarden, that’s what we would do. And if she felt for going for a longer trip, bonus!

Like the day before, the mountain wasn’t exactly screaming “come skiing” to us. But we knew that there was snow to be found up there.

Yes, Karma. There is snow up there...

And we could ski from the very beginning.

As we passed Kiberget, we got Mosvarden in view and as a bonus, someone had already left tracks for us to follow. There was no sole for Karma, but there wasn’t a whole lot of snow either, so it was all good.

After a while, the track we had followed went somewhere else and we were making our own tracks towards Mosvarden now.

Eventually, we arrived on Mosvarden.

Anne agreed that this had been a fairly short trip and was OK to proceed to Storebroren.

After a short break, we moved on.

There were no tracks to be seen on Storebroren, but with this little snow, breaking trail was never a bother.

This was my 2nd trip to Storebroren this year. In May, Karma and I had a nice hike with some really cool fog.

I was just waiting for Anne to arrive, before taking a group picture.

It’s a steep drop down to lake Brørevatnet.

The descent to lake Mosvatnet was not fun. I had the worst skis possible, but we made it down to the lake with only the pride taking a blow.

It was just wonderful to cross the lake as the sun was setting.

Memorable...
Memorable…

It was simply an unforgettable trip. To really understand what I’m talking about, you’d have to understand the amount of bad weather we have during winter, combined with how seldom it is to have good snow here on the coastline. The combination of good weather and good snow is just very seldom, and we truly appreciate it!

From lake Mosvatnet, we had almost 2km of gentle downhill skiing along the mountain service road. My skis didn’t glide well on the snow, but when Anne broke the trail, I had a mighty fine run in her tracks!

I could see that Anne was getting a bit tired now, but now we just had to climb up a hill and then have one more run along a mountain road before we were back at the car.

Karma was definitely not running out of steam just yet…

Eventually, we reached the top of the hill and could enjoy the final run down the mountain.

It was nice to see the Sunnmøre alps in red/pink one last time before putting the camera down in the backpack.
