Sunday: I wanted to finish the week with a “bang”, which means a long and solid uphill. And with 1200 vertical meters from Aldalen, Snøhornet delivers in that respect!
It wasn’t so hot as the previous days, and I figured Karma would be OK. Even if this was a long ridge walk, there had to be small ponds of water…
The forest part went well. Karma was eager and leading on.
There are a couple of slightly steep sections, but we’ve been up here before and Karma had no difficulties.
The second steep section is easier when you already know what the easiest route for the dog is.
In worst case, it’s just a matter of lifting the dog up a couple of ledges, but Karma walked by herself.
Then we headed for the SW ridge.
It also gets a little steep near the top of the ridge, and the best route for a dog is found when you look for alternatives to the path.
We enjoyed a good view towards Middagshornet, which we hiked a few days earlier.
Unfortunately, there was a little bit fog on top. I hoped it would go away before we got there.
There’s a lot of dramatic terrain in the Sunnmøre alps!
The fog didn’t go away, but it was OK. I had enjoyed the hike.
It was nice to be back!
While up here, I decided to pay a visit to point 1277m. I couldn’t remember having been to that top before.
And a little bit later, point 1277m was in the bag!
I didn’t feel like going back up to the top, so I decided to traverse the west flank, aiming for the lower part of the SW ridge.
It was a rocky ride down the west side and there were several occasions where I regretted the idea.
But all in all, it wasn’t such a terrible route. At the end of the route, I saw cairns and suspected that others enjoyed the concept of a roundtrip hike too.
Back in the forest, we also went up to point 493m above Blomgjølet. I hadn’t been there before, either.
Great hike!
