Wednesday: Mom had an appointment in Mo I Rana and I volunteered to drive. 500km (both ways) is NOTHING in terms of a daytrip in northern Norway. We left Brønnøysund just before 8am.

We were in Mo I Rana some 3,5 hours later and I chilled in the car while mom was having her appointment.

Afterwards, we visited my auntie and uncle before we went shopping and checked out the new promenade by the sea – where Anne and I stayed (Fjordgaarden) earlier in our vacation.

Eventually, it was time to return to Brønnøysund and I had done my homework. There was an easy forest top awaiting, by lake Fustvatnet – Baåsen.

We found the trailhead and I went up to the nearest house and was granted permission to park the car there.

We followed a tractor road up a harvested forest area.

Then the tractor road turned into a nice forest path.

Near the antenna, the path forked, and we followed the path to the left, not quite sure where we were going.

As I hoped, we were led to a viewpoint, from which we had a good view towards De Syv Søstre in Sandnessjøen.

Less nice to look at were the 72 wind turbines at Øyfjellet Wind Farm near Mosjøen. This the largest farm in Norway.

From here, we headed off-trail in the direction of the top.

The top offered surprisingly good views!

I thought there would be trees all over the place, but we could see familiar mountains in all directions!

I have to give mom big credit for staying in shape. She’s turning 80 next year and just a couple of weeks later, she and some not-so-young friends hiked Breidvasstinden 1224m. That’s amazing. I thought it was already amazing when I took her there back in 2018

We took an off-trail route back to the antenna, and shortly after, we were back on the forest trail we came up.

It was a long, but nice day. We were away for 12 hours (+). Back in Brønnøysund, Anne was serving Sushi. And we were starving. We had only shared one baguette during those 12 hours.
