Sunday: I knew it would take a miracle to get any views from the higher tops in the region today. Still, I drove to Ørsta, to Liadalen, to hike Liahornet. Maybe, maybe we got lucky?
We didn’t, so feel absolutely free to leave this report right here. There is nothing exciting to come, with respect to pictures or text.
But if you’re the type of person who just loves fog, feel free to read on…
We drove to the uppermost parking and sat course for the Liadalssætra.
The trail was a disaster. Either someone was in the middle of a remake, or cows had just ruined everything. Heavy rain is of course also an option…
When Liadalssætra came into view, I mentally prepared myself for a foggy mountain experience…
Now it was just a matter of finding the marked route – that I’ve only recently discovered. However, I had forgotten where it started…
Ah, great. They’ve put up a signpost! But where are the people that were supposed to wear those jackets?
I was very happy about the marked route. The lower part of this forest is cumbersome as it is…
The route is heavily marked in places…
When we got out of the forest, I was wondering if the fog was about to lift?
Nah…
Maybe I should have settled for a top < 8-900m and gotten some views…
But this is an easy route in fog. Just head for the pass between Liahornet and Grøthornet. Turn left when you’re staring down on the other side of the pass. Continue to the top!
On your way to the top – you have two options: 1) follow the path (a bit vague) or 2) scramble the crest. It’s up to you…
The fog adds some extra drama, of course…
And then we were up!
For sure, it was nothing like when we were up here last year…
We descended the way we came and there was absolutely nothing to report from the hike back to the car, other than that the jackets were no longer on the signpost…
This hike was supposed to conclude my hiking this summer break, and I would be resuming work the day after. But that didn’t go quite as planned…
Trip statistics: 7,4km, 900 vertical meters, 2h:28m
