My route up and down Molden
My route up and down Molden

Saturday: It was high time for a ski-trip again, and since I think it’s a little bit early for Karma to run down a mountain, I decided to go alone. Anne didn’t have time to join in. The choice fell on Molden, and in retrospect, I should have gone for a higher mountain and a higher trailhead.

The Krossen trailhead (500m) is fairly high, but to my surprise, I was the only one at the parking. That was really weird, but OK.

I soon discovered that there was very little snow in the forest. Every time I had to pass under a tree, there was barely any snow. It was slightly better when there were no trees above, but still – really bad conditions. I looked forward to getting above the forest.

Meanwhile, Anne and Karma were out walking in Sogndal.

They went up to Røvhaugane, to the house where Karma was born. No one was home, but Karma had no intention to leave

I didn’t let the lack of snow bother me. I had a great time.

Eventually, I reached Svarthiller. To me, that’s the halfway point even if it’s way more than halfway

I truly enjoyed myself.

The weather was just great. No wind!

The only problem now was that there was a lot of icy snow above me. I decided to try my luck in the valley below the ridge. The snow would surely be better, but I would be in the shade.

Okay snow here. Wind-packed, but OK.

Eventually, I reached the top and could enjoy a nice panorama view towards Lusterfjorden.

And like always – in the distance – Hurrungane.

It was almost impossible to ski on the summit plateau. It was basically naked rocks with 1mm snow on top.

The descent was altogether OK. It wasn’t fun like it usually is, but I survived. And I got myself a nice ski-trip.
