Tuesday: This was not a very exciting day in the mountains. I was dead tired and settled for an easy walk across my local forest top Rambjøra.

I brought the lopper and cut a lot of overhanging branches. At least I was doing something useful, in addition to walking the dog…

Wednesday: I really wanted to finish clearing the route between Dyrkyrkja and Huldrehornet before I took a break for the summer.

This is not only hard work. I do enjoy seeing the overgrown paths come “back to life” again…

And I was quite pleased with the results!

Afterwards, we took a hike up to Huldrehornet. Treats for Karma and another registered top visit for daddy!

Thursday: It was a foggy and rainy day, and I decided to do a hike across Garnestua. I should really be doing trail maintenance in this kind of weather, but I needed a break from it.

A hike from Løset to Garnestua is normally very nice. But today, it would get really unpleasant…

The combination of rain and wind wasn’t so bad in the lower parts of the mountain…

…but it was truly unpleasant on top. I really looked forward to getting back to the car!

The upside was that when I got back home, Anne would be there!

Friday: Today, I asked Anne if she could help with the trail maintenance. Cutting bush also means raking. Can’t leave the bush along the trail. It doesn’t look good.

As Anne didn’t have ear protection, we tried to keep a certain distance between us.

I was really happy about how this trail turned out! I hope hikers will appreciate it!

And just like two days ago, we went to Huldrehornet as a “bonus” after good work!

Saturday: Anne wanted to stay home and prepare dinner for friends in the afternoon. I decided to hike Sollia from Leikongeidet and inspect the sticks along the route. The local sheep are notorious for scratching against them and at this time of the year, I find a lot of sticks scattered around.

The weather was gorgeous and after a while, we ran into the troublemakers. But I didn’t see any point in raising the issue with them. They seem generally … dumb!

I’d rather enjoy the hike instead…

There were indeed some sticks that were laying around, but overall, most sticks were standing. Over the years, I have put effort into firmly securing the sticks. But that involves carrying heavy rocks, sometimes from a distance…

After years and years from hiking the local mountains, I am bored with most of them. But Sollia – the highest on Gurskøy island – is aways nice, either on foot or on skis!

The views aren’t very dramatic, but you can see a long way…

In the afternoon, we enjoyed a nice, homemade sushi dinner with Jannike, Isis and Ane Mathea.
