Tuesday: Oh my, what a day. Still, there is not a whole lot of daylight after a normal day working ends, and so I decided to hike on the island (Gurskøy) and don’t waste too much time driving. The goal for this afternoon was the regular round-trip hike across Hidsegga – Veten and Grøthornet.

We followed the road into Hidsdalen and Karma was eager from the get-go. I was quite eager myself. For the past weeks, I’ve had an emerging toothache and since the weekend, it’s been really bad. And the smell! Awful!

Fortunately, I got an appointment at the dentist. I feared this would be something big, but it turned out to be a small piece of dental floss stuck in there. The problem was very quickly solved and now it felt SO much better…

After a boring stretch along the road, we could get on the mountain path.

The camera was ready for action. It would be running hot today…

The moon was there as well. I don’t know if it was a full moon today, but it was full enough for me.

When we reached the top, I had all sorts of plan for photographing the dog and the moon together. Sorry, I didn’t have neither the hardware nor the knowledge for that.

I would just have to enjoy them separately.

I loved being here. It was just an amazing place to be right now.

I love the moon. I just want to buy a 1000mm zoom lens…

After a while, we moved on towards Grøthornet.

This is a pretty good place to get an overview of the mountains surrounding Moltudalen.

We were now saying goodbye to the sun. Thanks for being here with us. With the sun gone, I’m not saying it got dull

This round-trip hike is always interesting. Especially in bad weather. Then it’s a matter of survival up here.

Eventually, we got on the ridge towards Trolltua and had a good view towards Gjerdsvika.

I met a guy on Trolltua. He wasn’t in the mood for chatting and so I let him be. He was probably too occupied with the views. Can’t blame him.

I made a wrong turn and all of a sudden, we were heading back into Hidsdalen, much higher up than I had planned. Oh well. It was properly dark now and the headlamp had to come on.

I didn’t really want this hike to end, but it was getting a bit chilly and for the life of me, I couldn’t understand how Karma could not be freezing. She has barely any hair left after the haircut. But there were absolutely no signs of discomfort.

Man, that was a nice walk!

Trip statistics: 9,3km, 630 vertical meters, 2h:35m
