Monday: It was time to return home from Sogndal and when I got back home, I didn’t have energy to more than a hike across my local forest Rambjøra.

It was a nice walk, with a thin layer of snow.

Tuesday: After work, I decided to take a hike to Sandvikhornet, with the goal of reaching the top before total darkness.

On my way up Øyradalen, I noticed that it was unpleasant to lift my right foot up, and it felt that the problem was more stomach than leg.

I felt a bit uneasy about the situation, as this was a new “problem”. It was tempting to turn around in case there was something going on with the appendix, but I decided to continue.

Eventually, we reached the top of Sandvikhornet, and it was time to turn on the headlamp.

I never look forward to the dark season, but after a couple of weeks it’s all good and I enjoy taking pictures in the dark.

The stomach issue didn’t feel so bad anymore and I decided to return via Skåla and continue down Trolldalen.

It was a good walk and I hoped that I felt better the next day…

Wednesday: I didn’t feel better the next day, and after a visit to the Doctor, I still hadn’t a clue about what the problem was…

I was not feeling anywhere near well but muscled the will to take another walk across Rambjøra.

History shows that things get better once I get going, but history isn’t clear on whether it’s a good idea or not.

Friday: No hike on Thursday, due to the combination of bad shape and bad weather. But today, I took my lunchbreak on Osnessanden in Ulsteinvik.

Saturday: I was still not feeling well, but I could not sit inside in this weather. The weather wasn’t gorgeous, as it had potential for some nasty showers. But I love being outside in that kind of weather and decided to hike across Remøy island – a place I often go in this kind of weather.

The hike began just as I had hoped…

A good start!

The question was whether the sun would remain the dominant factor in the sky…

Awesome light!

…or if the rain/snow showers would be the main attraction…

We reached the top of Remøykammen after a short hike and got the high point – on the other side of the island – in view.

And the weather kept capturing my attention

We almost made it to the top of Remøyfjellet before the first rain shower hit us.

So nice...

But there wasn’t a lot of rain and the rain shower quickly left us.

I decided to take a new route back to the car and started out by hiking the normal path down to Sævik.

By now, I had almost forgotten that I was unwell. It was just that nice to be out walking. I’m pretty sure Karma felt the same way…

For the first time, I returned to the Kvianeset parking via the shore.

There was potentially so much weather that could have hit us, and I was very happy about the weather we got…

Sunday: This was basically a replica of the day before – I was still unwell, the weather was still very shifting and again we headed to the coastline for a walk – today towards Storevarden on Nerlandsøya.

To take the focus away from my poor shape, I decided to take a new (off-trail) route to Storevarden – up Kalddalen valley.

There was nothing problematic about this route, as I could pick my line of ascent, but it could be quite different coming down this way, without knowing the terrain. There is really only one good connection with the road.

After a while, we were on the northeast ridge.

The weather didn’t seem quite so unstable as the day before, but at least we were heading into some fog.

I really enjoyed this route, and it won’t be the last time I’m going to Storevarden this way.
